In addition to the winning bid amount, the successful bidder must pay: 29% including tax and 14.28% including tax in court fees (for “Fashion” lots and lots marked with “Court Fees”)

For successful bidders bidding on the drouotonline.com website, additional fees of 1.5% excluding tax (1.80% including tax) are payable by the buyer

Once the auction is declared closed, the items are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Successful bidders are advised to pick up their lots as soon as possible to avoid handling and storage fees, which are their responsibility. Returning lots to the auction house is a convenience for customers; this does not engage the auctioneer’s liability in any way.

Payment must be made in cash for amounts up to €1,000, or up to €15,000 if the buyer can prove that their tax residence is not in France.

In the event of a dispute at the time of the auction, that is, if it is established that two or more bidders simultaneously placed an equivalent bid and claim the item after the auctioneer has declared “Sold,” the item in question will be put up for auction again at the price offered by the bidders, and all members of the audience present will be permitted to bid again.

In the event of non-payment, the item may be put up for auction again on the basis of the highest bid, either immediately or at the earliest opportunity.

The order of the catalog will be followed; however, the auctioneer reserves the right to combine or split lots.

The descriptions in the catalog are prepared by Castor Hara, the expert, who assists him as needed, with all due diligence required of a public auction house for furniture, subject to any notifications, declarations, or corrections announced at the time of the item’s presentation and recorded in the auction minutes.

This information, including the dimensions listed in the catalog, is provided to facilitate inspection by the prospective buyer and remains subject to the buyer’s personal judgment.

The proportions and colors of the works listed in the catalog may differ due to the printing process.

The absence of any mention of routine restoration, damage, retouching, or any other issue in the catalog, in condition reports, on labels, or during a verbal announcement does not imply that an item is free of defects. Furthermore, re-stretching, parqueting, lining, or any other conservation measures taken on the item are not reported.

In the event of disputes, particularly regarding the authenticity or provenance of the items sold, Castor Hara is bound by an obligation of means; its liability, if any, may be incurred only on the express condition that proven personal fault on its part is demonstrated. Descriptions of the item are based on the state of knowledge as of the date of sale, and Castor Hara shall not be held liable for any errors or omissions. Information regarding the provenance and/or origin of the item is provided based on the seller’s statements and does not engage Castor Hara’s liability.

We therefore invite buyers to assess for themselves—or with the assistance of an expert they deem competent—the quality of the works presented for sale. This assessment must take place during the public exhibitions. No claims will be accepted once the hammer has fallen.

The export of any item from France may be subject to obtaining an export permit, whether to a Member State or outside the European Union. It is the buyer’s responsibility to obtain the export permit. The fact that a required export authorization is denied or delayed shall not justify the cancellation of the sale or any delay in payment of the total amount due.

The Auction House will execute purchase orders entrusted to it free of charge. These orders are provided as a convenience to clients. The Auction House is not liable for failing to execute an order due to error or for any other reason.

In the event of two identical purchase orders, the earlier order will take precedence. If a bid is made in the auction room for an amount equal to a purchase order, the bidder present in the room will have priority.

Telephone bids are accepted for lots with an estimate of more than €1,000

Pickup of Purchases: All lots, with certain exceptions (jewelry, small books, drawings, miniatures, etc.), must be picked up at the Hôtel Drouot storage facility; storage fees are the responsibility of the buyer. The auction house assumes no liability for the storage of items.

Participation in the auction implies automatic acceptance of these terms and conditions.
