Félix Ziem (Beaune 1821-1911) was a painter close to the Barbizon School, renowned for his seascapes and landscapes of Venice and Constantinople. A painter associated with Orientalism, he is considered one of the precursors of Impressionism.
First edition by Pierre et Galiot du Pré frères, printed by Jehan le Royer, of the French translation by Nicolas de Herberay des Essars. First published in 1555 by Guillaume le Noir, under the title L'Horloge des princes, this translation is based on the Castilian text "Reloj de principes" and the French translation by Berthault de la Grise in 1540, here revised and corrected by Herberay. Antonio de Guevara (1481-1545), a Franciscan monk, was a preacher at the court of Charles V, inquisitor of Toledo in 1525 and bishop of Mondonedo.
