Human mask - Lot 88
Human mask This stylized face is animated by raised eyebrows that join the root of the nose in a T shape. The eyes and mouth are simply transcribed by circular perforations. The lips come together in a movement that evokes breath or speech. The simplicity of the treatment in no way detracts from the expressiveness of this anthropomorphic face which seems to suggest astonishment or surprise. Biconical holes around the circumference indicate that this mask could have been attached to a funeral burden.
