Henri PINGUENET (1889-1972) - Lot 0
Henri PINGUENET (1889-1972) Studio background - Applied arts Fabrics; knotted-stitch carpets; furniture; interiors; bindings; decorative panels... For Galeries Lafayette and the Normandie liner. This online sale presents an exceptional collection from the studio of Henri Pinguenet, a Parisian painter, interior decorator and rug designer. It brings together original signed works, decorative projects, carpets, furniture, nudes and landscapes, testifying to the diversity and richness of his work. An active artist on the Parisian scene in the first half of the XXᵉ century, Pinguenet developed a body of work at the crossroads of the fine and decorative arts. In the 1930s, he collaborated notably with Galeries Lafayette, for whom he designed carpet motifs, illustrating his sense of decoration and ornament. His work was exhibited at a number of major Parisian shows in the 1930s, including the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, all major venues for the dissemination of artistic and decorative creation at the time. Female nudes, which feature prominently in this collection, reveal a sensitive, decorative approach to the human figure, while landscapes and studies testify to a keen eye for light and composition. This ensemble is part of a XXᵉ century pictorial tradition that evokes, in certain respects, artists such as Renoir, Lamberton, Picart Le Doux, Ottmann, Baes, Bonnefoit, Bissière, Kvapil, Tchoubanoff, Elhinger, Dulac, Henner, Souverbie, Domergue and Raoul Le Jeune. This sale is a rare opportunity to acquire works directly from the artist's studio, offering a precious glimpse into his world of painting, decoration and textile creation.
