Le Conseil de Momus et la revue de son Régiment, Calotin poem.
Slnd (Paris, 1730), small in-8 bound in full contemporary red morocco, ornate ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the boards with fleur-de-lis spandrels, gilt edges, brittle spines.
Bound with the arms of Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre, Governor of Brittany and Grand Veneur of France (1725-1793).
Illustrated with 3 off-text intaglio figures: the Pet God, the portrait of Aimon I, and the flag of the Calotte regiment, as well as head and tailpieces; IV+255 pages miscalculated 237. Heraldic bookplate.
First edition of this satirical and facetious text attributed to Bosc du Bouchet.
The work was published without a title page, but we learn from the foreword, entitled "frontispice calotin", that it was printed in Ratopolis (Paris) for the New Year's eve of 1730 and sold "Sous le Manteau".
Gay, I-666, Barbier I-696.
