GEORGES JOUVE (1910-1964) - Lot 351
GEORGES JOUVE (1910-1964) Lamp "Three balls Glazed earthenware unbleached and cracked, with double bulges Signed under the base of the Alpha Height: 47,5 cm This important set made by RAPHAEL is presented to us today in its original configuration with the "Three balls" lamp in glazed ceramic by Georges Jouve, whose luminosity of the glazed cover and rounded forms find a balance with the beka lacquer and angular lines of this furniture. This same furniture is presented in an article of Mobilier et Décoration of June 1960 under this description: "[The patient] after having tried to guess by anticipation the intentions of the practitioner, will transfer part of his interest to the whole room. From the lamp with its supple lines, which illuminates the interview, he descends to the Beka lacquered desk whose contrast of scaled and black tones ensures a back and forth of the gaze on the center of the problem: The surgeon. [...] Raphael's sober realization will have contributed powerfully to restoring the shaken confidence of the patient and simplified the arduous task of the surgeon.
