Human mask - Lot 95
Human mask This large, elongated mask has a soft face, whose expression is illuminated by the presence of the eyes. Its almond-shaped eyes are made up of white shells inlaid in wood, the purple part being reserved for making the pupil. The nose is long and fine and the half-open mouth is in relief. Perforations punctuate the edges of the nose, indicating that it must have been sewn on a funeral bundle. Wood and shell Chancay Culture, Peru 1100 - 1400 A.D.
